Laura Panaech

Physiotherapist

I strive for excellence in my profession both as a Physiotherapist and as a Pilates teacher.

“Learning is about living and as such is lifelong” Bente Elkjaer

Over the years I have been building on my knowledge and getting more ‘tools’ in my tool kit which is why I can often help people where other practitioners have not been able to.

My Physiotherapy qualifications

My learning journey started at the University of Southampton where I graduated with an honours degree in Physiotherapy.   Guy’s and St Thomas’ in London was the perfect place to undertake rotations in the different Physiotherapy specialities. After this I spent 6 years overseas firstly in private practice in Sydney and then in a large teaching hospital in Singapore. I obtained my Masters in Musculoskeletal Studies (Manual Therapy) in 2002 from the University of Western Australia in Perth. This degree included studying countless research articles on the spine, muscles and joints, doing advanced anatomy labs and fine tuning my skills in manual therapy and sports rehabilitation.

I have been in private practice in Southampton ever since and over the last six years I have been specialising in ConnectTherapy™.  I carry out a robust diagnostic assessment and treatment framework to understand how all the different parts and systems of the body are interconnected, how they influence each other and determine how we move and feel.  This has made an enormous improvement to the successful rehabilitation of many of my clients with longstanding pain.

Pilates training

I am a fully qualified Pilates Instructor with the APPI and I am passionate about helping people move better. I have done numerous courses and workshops through the APPI in Pilates:

Matwork 1, 2, 3 and examination

Advanced Pilates Matwork, 3D Standing Pilates, Pilates on the gym ball, Pilates for Osteoporosis, Pilates for children and young people, Stretch Therapy for Pilates, Ante and post-natal Pilates, Master training day with the founders of the APPI, Pilates conferences over the years (wobble board, football and skiing workshops, Healthy Hit Pilates, standing Reformer, women’s health, Osteoporosis and Magic circle workshops).

Other Pilates Training

Fitt Pilates with reformer level 1 and advanced reformer training, level 2 Balanced Body conference 2019 with Joseph Pilates apprentice-Lolita San Miguel, learning the classical Reformer moves as taught by Joe. On a personal note, practising Pilates has helped me overcome the pelvic pain and dysfunction I had following my two pregnancies and Caesareans. Pilates is helping me gain more flexibility for my new hobby of climbing and maintain core strength for a variety of sports as I get older.
